Another of the Greatest English team leaves us... I Remember seeing him play far too young to appreciate his greatness.... the video of that save v Hurst pen is something else... remember we lost the 1970 WC because he was poisoned... always came across as a top top bloke... RIP Ledge''

Agreed Leroys

Probably the only footballer who did something to West Ham's detriment (that save from Hurst) that I completely forgave.

RIP. Complete legend.

Sad to see another legend pass away.

People are getting a bit precious about the thread title. This is WHO protocol. Don't take it so personally - unless you knew him there is no need to be offended.

Yes, was standing in the North Bank that night. Hurst was clattered in the back early in the game and was struggling when he took that penalty. You just knew Banks was going to save it.

RIP Mr Banks - The greatest goalie we almost but never signed.

RIP Gordon Banks, Englands best-ever keeper

Far Cough 12:05 Tue Feb 12
Re: Gordon banks BROWN BREAD
Yes we could have signed him but instead Greenwood opted for the Scottish legend, Sir Bobby Ferguson
